Prospect Heights Terrace Garden: A Work in Progress

In 2006 a condo conversion included two additional floors to an 1889 Brooklyn firehouse on Dean Street. Greenzone Landscape was recently commissioned to transform the contractor's blank terrace.

The biggest challenge of this project has been to design and install a steel structural support system for an African mahogany trellis/planter without attaching any fasteners to the adjoining building. Cor-ten supports were manufactured in Dumbo to solve the problem.

Cor-ten steel cladding and planters were also custom-made in Dumbo to frame the space, decrease the masonry eyesore and create a modern exterior that mimics the client's modern interior.

An array of white and yellow hanging planters are in the works for the balcony railing.
Ornamental grasses, and trailing perennials will be planted in the spring.
