A client in Windsor Terrace wanted the front of the house to have a more modern and clean look. The brick flooring, walls and recycling shed contributed to a heavy and austere feeling. Sourcing out recycled Coney Island ipe for the project was an ideal solution.
Planter boxes were designed and installed. And the recycling shed was given a horizontal cladding. These new elements helped to create a visual balance between stonework and wood. The neutral gray of the aged ipe also added to the overall "softening" effect.
New plants for the space included Ajuga reptans, Cornus sericea (Red Twig Dogwood) and 'PJM' Rhododendron.

An Overwhelming Tribeca Terrace Is Comfortably and Cleanly Toned Down
One of the biggest challenges of this project was breaking down the trees and planter boxes and safely removing them from the site. Carting 100 bags of debris through a client's apartment and the remaining building can be tricky and requires patience and focused attention.
The Buxus 'Green Mountain' hedge and Miscanthus sinensis grasses were chosen for their hardiness, low maintenance and structural integrity.
